About Me

Tampa, FL, United States
I am a 38 year old father of 2, living in Tampa, Florida. I am together with a fabulous woman now, and aside from the distance issue...I am a much happier man now. Taking one day at a time now since being diagnosed with Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis (PSC), a.k.a. Walter Paytons disease. August of 2007 I learned I had this rare disease, and my life has been quite different since. Focusing on the here and now, and living for the future is a must these days. Being an ex-professional football player, it isn't easy to slow down as fast as I have had to this past year. I used to be able to run all day with no complaints, now sometimes I feel so tired and fatigued from doing nothing, it is almost unbelievable the difference in quality of life now. Things are better than they were a year ago, but life in general has been a complete adjustment for me.

Thoughts

Today I sat here and thought to myself....I am 35 years old and I need to start thinking of creating a will. I never thought that day would come this soon. No matter how positive I am about this whole situation, there is some possibility that I might go down because of my condition. I am positive about my future, but I am also realistic. Sometimes when we think of everyday life we take for granted life itself. Maybe we think too much of our problems, our relationships, our jobs, and other people in general. But do you realize that none of these things exist when you die? Would it matter to me what problems I left behind, I cannot do anything about them if I am gone.

Something else I thought about. Wouldn't it be interesting if you could watch peoples reaction to your death, maybe hear their thoughts, and what they really think or thought about you. Did they really like you? Did someone do something so terrible to you and you never found out, but now they are admitting to it in their head? I am sure in that moment of "truth", so much would be revealed. It might be sickening. There may be some happy realizations. Who knows....

Til that day I am going to keep pushing forward, learning, growing, and staying focused on my most important thing.....ME.

Your most important thing?
